What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring, deep state of relaxation in which the conscious mind is bypassed, allowing for positive suggestions to be directed to the subconscious. It enables you to take new ideas and implement them more easily. Using hypnosis, you can eliminate destructive beliefs and habits in a short period of time.

What does it feel like to be hypnotized?

Unlike what we see on stage and in movies, being hypnotized feels like being in a deep state of relaxation - like the last few minutes before falling asleep or before fully waking in the morning. The body relaxes as though it was asleep, but the mind remains even more alert than usual. The client remains completely aware of what's going on and can hear noises in the room while in hypnosis.

How does hypnosis work?

The Hypnotherapist facilitates your entry into this relaxed state but the ability to actually go into hypnosis and make changes is entirely in your hands. You will be able to tap into your subconscious mind in order to make positive change. With the Hypnotherapist as a guide, you put yourself into that state, which is why all hypnosis is considered self-hypnosis.

Will I lose control during the session?

The client has complete control during hypnosis. He or she can choose to take or leave the positive suggestions given by the Hypnotherapist during a session. That's why it is necessary that the client really desire the change in question, because there is no way of making someone do something that they don't want to do.

Will I say anything I don't want to?

Since the client is completely aware during a hypnotherapy session, he or she controls what will be said. Hypnosis is not a "truth serum".

Will I get stuck in hypnosis?

It is impossible to get stuck in hypnosis (although it makes a funny plot for a movie). Should the practitioner stop talking, one of two things would happen: you would "wake up" and wonder why the practitioner stopped talking, or you would simply fall asleep for a little while.

Can anyone be hypnotized?

Anyone who is over the age of 4 and who is mentally stable can achieve the relaxed state of hypnosis. Since hypnotherapy is a therapy of consent, clients come to a session voluntarily and are willing to give hypnosis a try. Since all hypnosis is "self-hypnosis", the only reason that one could not become hypnotized is if they are unwilling to do so.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on the person and what they are coming in for. Hypnosis is so effective that Hypnotherapists have an incredible client turnover rate. On average, clients come in for 1 to 4 sessions for any given issue.
